What is the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity?

It’s the biggest charity event in Poland. It was founded in 1993 by Jerzy Owsiak who since then remains the chairman of GOCC.
The GOCC aims to suport Polish health care by purchasing the best quality medical equipment for Polish hospitals. The foundation supports paediatric and geriatric wards, furnishing them in both complex medical devices such as MRI scanners, and providing long-term care units with anti-bedsore mattresses and beds.
At that time when the history of GOCC started the Fundation collected money for protecting health and saving children lives’ and aimed for supplying children wards in public hospitals.

Why is GOCC so popular?

Since 1993 every year on Sunday in January millions of Poles have been donating to the Foundation and during all 27 Grand Finale GOCC has collected more than 1 bln PLN.
The Grand Finale fundraiser is a the day long public event that takes place all over Poland in most of the cities, towns and villages. It’s organised locally, by volunteer-run Collection Centres, and is accompanied by various events such as concerts, sporting competitions, and firework displays Volunteers, carrying branded collection boxes collect money across the country, and people donating money receive distinct red-heart stickers in return.
During the 27th Grand Finale Concert in Gdańsk on 13th of January 2019 mayor of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz was stabbed on stage. He died the following day in a hospital after a few hours long surgery he had.

Join the guided tour and help the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity

On Sun 12 of January we are organizing charity sightseeing walks in Gdańsk with a local guide for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. You are more than welcome to join our 1,5 hour walking tour in the Main Town of Gdańsk. The admittance is free. However if you enjoy our tour (we do our best you like it) we hope you support the Great Orchestra with a donation which we will be collecting during the tour. ALL the moeny we collect during the guided tours will fund the account of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.

How to join the charity walking tour?

Choose between 10 am, 12 pm and 2 pm guided tour in English or Polish and register in 3 simple steps.
